Poetic Professor Wins Competition
By David Jenkins
Hope's Professor of Intercultural Management, David Weir, has been successful in a poetry competition aiming to bring verse to one of the UK's furthest-flung reaches, the Shetland Islands.
The competition which was Bard on the Bog; an initiative destined to send poetry to lavatories across Scotland, was judged by Jen Hadfield (winner of the Poetry Society's TS Eliot Prize) and David's victory will see his poem 'Journeyman' published in a book, as well as displayed around the islands.
"The funny thing is that I didnt even know that I had entered it," said David.
"Poetry is nothing but a hobby of mine, and my daughter entered me into the competition and then I won."
The poem titled "journeyman" which win the competition can be viewed here
