Dog walkers stranded in thick fog
A father and son have been taken to hospital suffering from severe hypothermia.
The two, who were out walking their dog, became stranded after becoming disorientated in thick fog when walking along the River Dee Estuary.
They made a 999 call from a mobile before finding themselves waist deep in sands near Hilbre Island, and were rescued by the West Kirkby lifeboat at around 20:00 GMT last night.
The news will also act as a warning to other citizens who brave extreme whether conditions, and also that it is not just drivers who need to take precautions.
Liverpool weather expert Neil Fay gives a few details on how quickly thick fog can strike and discusses some of the dangers. He also gives some sound advice for those who do need to venture in extreme weather.
